Medical Insurance Policies for College Students

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Medical insurance frequently is not top priority when planning an education. Most students are at an age where health insurance is not the first thing they think about. Let’s face it, in your teens you will typically tend to think that you will live forever so you will never become sick. Unluckily, this is seldom the case no matter how fit an individual might seem. Reasonable health insurance isn’t simply a good plan, it’s absolutely essential.

Those students fortunate enough to be included in their parent’s policy are by and large included up until they turn twenty three. For anyone who does not have coverage under their parent’s plan, a necessary part of preparation for a college education will be finding inexpensive medical insurance.

What is essential in a policy aimed at college students? Deductibles: It’s a yearly payment made before any medical benefits commencing, the same as an auto deductible. To use an example, should your deductible be five hundred dollars, 500 dollars has to be paid prior to receiving any payment connected with your policy.

What’s a co-pay? Once your deductible is paid, most policies ask you to pay a portion of the bill for every trip to the doctor, medicine or procedure. This, in a nutshell, is co-pay. Precisely what should your insurance cover? Many health insurance policies are Health Maintenance Organization or Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). This could mean certain physicians may possibly be excluded from your “network” and might not be included under the medical insurance policy. A list of participating health providers are included with almost all insurance plans, so look at that before you pick out a health insurance policy designed for college students. Catastrophic coverage: There may be a limit on college student health insurance plans in particular concerning more serious illness, the extent of coverage included in virtually all student medical insurance is generally smaller than any regular plan.

What about the limitations? Restrictions are very common in student health insurance policies. It is crucial to study your policy thoroughly to check out exactly what is and isn’t included.

Have any medical insurance details on your person at all times. It’s not just impossible to plan for accidents or an illness, they’re also likely to take place when it’s least expected. Familiarise yourself with the details of your plan even should you be included in your family insurance policy.

Enriching Your Life with Audio-Books

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

March Upcountry by David Weber and John Ringo is certainly an absorbing book, however today’s busy schedules make reading troublesome to achieve. Lengthy journeys to the office and day to day activities could eat up huge portions of your day everyday. Making a living, dealing with children or housework all cut down the free time available to spend on your hobbies. It’s easy to simply use the time spent driving to get up to date on novels you can’t get around to reading. Thanks to technology, it’s easy to spoil yourself with Desert Cut: A Lena Jones Mystery by Betty Webb for sale from Download Audio Book Online, or audio-books narrated beautifully by Denise Lynch when you are busy doing other things.

In today’s hectic world multi-tasking has become a must. Audio-books such as Jester, The by James Patterson and Andrew Cross for sale from Download Audio Book Online occupy the dead minutes in our schedule, it could be minutes passed waiting in a physician’s surgery or possibly taking the family to soccer practise. Numerous audio books are immediately available to download in mp3 format these include Everything She Ever Wanted by Ann Rule, so utilize your mp3 player and earphones and use the chance to listen to the latest thriller, such as audio titles by E. M. Forster without dragging a heavy book with you. The various benefits of audio-books include the chance to rent or buy educational books and savor them at your own pace. Need to study another language? Try an audio book! You can catch up on progressive business practises, or you can enjoy contemplating the most radical views pertaining to religious belief or spirituality.

A huge choice of literary genres and titles are obtainable. It really doesn’t matter if you’re a history fan, or you are nuts about politics or even interested in health and physical fitness, it’s simple to download most titles now. Choices are wide open; it’s simple to subscribe to a rental service or else purchase what appeals to you. Reading will always be an essential skill, however audio-books offer a great option for active people. A author or actor can enhance the experience of some books. Reading a title is not the same experience as listening to an audio title performed by Ben Ferguson, with refinements presented during a performance. Listening to audiobooks performed by Louisa May Alcott will bring more depth to the title and can convey more than written word. The next time whenever you consider purchasing a volume that might collect dust on a shelf, remember an audio-book as a different option.

How to Pass Hair Drug Tests

Hair Drug Testing

False vs. Reality

False: Hair drug testing is operational, but not a ordinary process of drug testing, because it is therefore pricey.

Closed: drug tests are so far more than costly rather than a standardurinalysis–we’re talking dollar bills to cents here–and is a more innovative form of drug testing, so most employers opt for a basic urine drug test. Psychemedics, the companythat creates hair drug tests in the United States, has been quite productive at depressing the cost and maximizing knowingness, but a full switch from urine to hairhas a ways ahead.

Myths: There is small difference of opinion between a urine drug test, and hair drug testing.

Truth: Quite untrue. A urine drug test is simpler, less expensive, widely open, and at this point, an acknowledged course of drug testing. Hair drug testing isn’t as invasive–inducing it complete for confidential regions of testing, such as student drug tests–than its similitude.

Open: Hair drug testing can find toxin vulnerability and/or illicit drug use frommany ages ago.

Truth: Indeed, hair drug testing will reveal drug “use”–direct andindirect exposure–as many as seven years. The hair strand is analyzed similar toassessing the age of a tree by its internal ring structure. Body hair is likea Velcro for all things ingested from your diet, the air you breathe, and yes, to any banned substances. This is a great benefit of hair drug testing, butalso puts a greater rational dilemma: is vulnerability real “use”?

Myths: Hair drug testing can be thwarted by trimming your head.

Truth: While remaining vacant of hair may appear to make sense when posed witha drug test that applies hair as its specimen, unfortunately for you, no, it doesn’t work. For example, not like you could go out, purchase a Bic razor, shave your head, and pass hair drug testmethods simply because your bald! The examiner will justclip body hair. There is no way to trim your way out of a hair drug test.

Introducing Yours Truly, a One Woman Show Who Finally Found Great Expectations

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

For one, Nobody can say I’m exactly comfortable living alone and not be lying. But, I’m not uncomfortable about it, either. I merely suggest it here as an ear-catching little tidbit setting up the story I am prepared to unravel!

This time last week yours truly met for coffee with Stacey, considering buying a membership to the Phoenix Great Expectations dating service. Today, I type to the blogosphere as a happy member of the dating service. Totally, and I almost don’t believe it myself! It’s full of fun, attractive people! If you’ve been paying attention, you may be wondering, “You totally owe me an explanation.”

Here’s how it went down, I saw this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the honest singles who know dating isn’t a game.

‘Cause I’d never been too big on what a lot of singles have named “dating.” I got it more than anyone should. Day and night readers nagg, “Are you two serious yet?” and “Just get out there and date him!”

“Ugh, and double ugh.” I reply, and playfully so. “There’s nothing to date!”

“Don’t be silly,” they level with me. “How would you know, you haven’t seen Friday Night Magic in a year!”

That’s just my partner in crime (on a good day) (hehe) Sandy Feldman. She beams rational thought directly to my core to put me back on course. People you can trust to offer perspective. She made a good point, and I thank her for it.

Coming home to the message of this blog entry. As I picked from hundreds of combinations of outfits for my first Great Expectations date, I realized something true. Over the last year, I hadn’t entertained the greatest of figurative great expectations for dating and myself in the adventurous winding course of being human. Single life has its perks, especially when you get out there and have fun. Having great expectations makes a difference for a caring soul.

Online Guru or Scam Artist: How Can You Tell?

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

You want to start your own online business. You want the financial independence from corporate America. You want to pursue your dreams. You need help. Who do you call?

Unfortunately, as the web has grown so have the undesirable elements too. The web is a microcosm of the real world. There are honest merchants and trainers. But there are also those looking to prey on inexperienced people. Before you get sucked into a bad situation and spend hundreds of dollars, read this article. As you read this article, do not accept what I say blindly. Test it against your own experience.

Every day, I’m certain you receive many emails promising you everything from cheap Canadian drugs to making big money fast at eBay. The first way to identify an online scam artist is by his SPAM. The spam emails you receive should trigger the same signals in your brain as the spore left by predators around the chicken coop. A reputable online business will not send SPAM (unsolicited email). A reputable company or individual will work hard to earn your business by publishing articles online, working on their website’s search engine results, and providing you with a content rich website. So, the first sign of the online scam artist is his SPAM email. Just delete any you receive. But, how do you find the right company or individual to support you?

Start with a search engine, like google.com or teoma.com. Search for terms like “small business forum”, “small business advice”, “small business newsletters”, and “home based business resources”. Looking at the resulting search results, avoid those search results that start with phrases like “business opportunity” or “work from home and make $50,000″. Come on! You know that just doesn’t sound right. If they knew how to make a fortune with very little effort, do you think they’d be teaching others how to do it? So what do you look for? Sites that offer articles from true professionals in the field of online business.

Read the articles that interest you. Listen carefully to what the writer is saying. If they are painting a reasonable expectation and answering your unasked questions, check out their website. Reputable people will work very hard placing articles on reputable sites where you can find them. They will work for your business.

Now that you’re on their site, what do you look for to determine if this company or individual is right for you? First, read the contents of their site. Is it focused on you, the potential customer? Does it give you relevant information, or just a sales pitch? Is it trying to get you to a free seminar without any other option of contacting the company? Does it give you a clear roadmap of how it intends to deliver on the promises it’s making? If they aren’t attempting to inform you so you can make a decision that’s best for you, RUN! (In other words, skip their site and go to the next).

As a side note: Stay away from academic organizations. They tend to know the theory of creating a successful online business. You want someone who has created a successful online business and knows what to do based upon experience, not theory. Read the biographies of the people heading the company. Are the biographies focused upon real world accomplishments? Read how they operate. After you sign with them, will you be handed off to some hourly employee or will you work with someone who has actually created an online business?

Once you find one or two options that look good for you, sign up for their free seminar. Every reputable company has an online free seminar. Unfortunately, so does every online scam artist, so before the seminar, do some research. Start by contacting the Better Business Bureau where the company is located to research any prior complaints. Go to google.com or teoma.com, or any other search engine, and put the company’s name in the search box. If anyone is really mad at them, results will come back. This is a case where “no news is good news”. Now that you know the company doesn’t have an already documented bad reputation, it’s time to attend the seminar.

Now that it’s time for the free seminar, what should you listen for?

Do they emphasize the money to be made, and downplay or ignore the effort required to accomplish that task?

Do they promise you to do the work for you?

Do they promise a lot of “free” things?

Do they offer a money-back guarantee? Though this may sound good as a sales pitch, few of them deliver on that promise.

Do they allow you to ask questions at some point in the seminar or do they keep themselves insulated from you and your concerns?

When the seminar is over, do you get to talk with the person who will be your coach/mentor, or do you only get to talk to a salesman only?

Let’s say everything is sounding good and you think you want to sign up. What now?

Follow these simple guidelines and you can avoid a costly mistake:
Don’t talk to a salesman! ALWAYS ask to talk to the person who will be coaching you.

Ask them about their experience and make certain you will feel comfortable working with them for the long term.

Be sure they are asking you tough questions to make certain you are a good candidate to be successful in their program. No reputable company wants to sell you a program you will fail at. Reputable companies count on happy customers telling other people about their company.

Make certain you understand the program and what you will be required to do to be successful.

Don’t fall for any “early bird registration discounts”. If you need time to think about this decision, a reputable company will understand that. Have as many conversations as it takes to feel comfortable. If they want to sign you fast, what kind of service do you expect once they have your money?

Is it easy to spot a scam artist online? It is if you follow the simple guidelines laid out in this article and if you listen to that small voice in your head that keeps repeating “this sounds too good to be true”.

Holographic Projection Glide Paths

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Holographic Technologies are getting closer to becoming reality and soon we can see the data on our computers in 3D, 4D and 5D. We will enjoy Virtual Reality on our 360 X-Box in our living rooms. Military strategists and war fighters can play out the battle in the virtual battlespace in advance and then watch it un-fold in real time. Great, great grandchildren will be about to meet their past ancestors and watch a holographic video. We will communicate in video conferencing with the image of the other people sitting next us, but not actually there. All this is on its way and even more, as the applications are endless indeed.

One application, which has not been mentioned, yet is the potential for pilots to have projected glide paths in front of them as they fly, actually watching their aircraft (full-size) in front of them. All they will have to do is follow the projection and match their aircraft to the angles and speeds of the holographic aircraft ahead. The projection will be set for safest glide path, avoid wake turbulence and be the most fuel-efficient decent. This will make flying easier and become a great training tool for new pilots building hours and their skills.

This will insure a proper downwind to base and base to final approach, with perfect angles, no steep banks and help the pilot land at the perfect speed on the threshold. Additionally these Holographic Projections will be recorded and used for training air traffic controllers and used by flight instructors to watch to make sure the student pilot is coming along fine. The instructor will be able to reduce the scale of the aircraft to 1:24 or 1:48 scale and show student how they did. This can help in training new fighter pilots in the military as well. This can add to the simulator experience. Such technology will come in handy for the NASA SATS Program making general aviation safe as we move more private automobile traffic from our ground transportation infrastructures into the air and help with the Virtual Control Tower Simulation Training Systems to help commercial aviation.

http://www.simlabs.arc.nasa.gov/vast/vast.html

Imagine eliminating wake turbulence accidents by helping pilots avoid wake turbulence, by using net-centric systems inside the aircraft, which will re-project the holographic aircraft in front of them. Good for collision avoidance as well. This will alleviate issues with the 3-minute rule, when it should be extended or when it is not a factor. The increased efficiency will help the traffic flow at the larger airports, moving more aircraft on their way in less time.

http://oea.larc.nasa.gov/PAIS/AVOSS.html

The Holographic Technology is almost here and it such advances in science has the potential of literally solving many safety and efficiency issues in aviation in the present period and safety in space in the next period. Think on this.

A Well-written Cover Letter: Necessary Aid in Writing Business

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

*** The following cover letter is one I would send with a copy of my short story “Hidden Lies” to an agent. Addresses, phone numbers, and names used (except for my name and email address) are not real. Any information between asterisks (**) are not part of the letter but information about what goes in the letter. ***

2912 My Street
My Town, State zipcode
April 13, 2006

John Johns **Use name of correct editor, call company to ask.**
Johns Literary Agency
Mailing address
Sometown, Somestate zip

Dear Mr. Johns: **If person is a woman, use Ms. unless you know differently.**

Life has many conflicts, and relationships aren’t always as the members involved believe. The enclosed short story “Hidden Lies” reveals that members of the same family don’t always know the “skeletons” hidden in the family “closet.” In fact, none ever viewed a freezer in the same way again.

As a teacher of English and composition for twenty-five years, I not only taught writing, but also studied and honed my own skills. From 1974 thorough 1977, I had short stories, articles, and poetry published in Potpourri magazine. Later years, articles and short stories appeared in regional publications, in the Teachers of English anthology Teachers Write, and in Standard magazine. More current information may be found on my web site, http://www.viviangilbertzabel.com.

Thank you for considering my short story. I will await a decision at your earliest convenience. You may also reach me by phone, 405-555-1411, or by email, vzabel@writing.com. Enclosed is a SASE for your use.

Sincerely,

(signature here)

Vivian Gilbert Zabel

2 enclosures:
Manuscript: “Hidden Lies”
SASE

* * * Notes about cover (sent with submission) letter * * *

1. Author’s address and current date goes in upper left hand corner (if using block letter) or upper right hand corner . The author’s email address may go under date.

2. The inside address for the publisher, agent, or publisher goes next, using the name of the person who should get the manuscript according to the type of writing and genre. Call the company or agency and ask for the correct editor or agent if necessary.

3. Address the person by Mr. or Ms. (unless you know the woman prefers Miss or Mrs.) and his or her last name. Do NOT address the person by a first name unless you already know him or her extremely well.

4. The first paragraph should get the attention of the editor or agent as well as informing him of the material you are sending and a bit about the story. Do not go into great depth.

5. The next paragraph should give only a small amount of biographical information and only that which is related to closely to what you are submitting or your expertise. I included that I taught and learned more about writing while teaching, which gives support for me as a writer. Then I gave information about my published work and my website address, so if the agent/editor wants more information, she can find it. Do not falsify anything. If you have clips (news releases or clippings) and have them on a website, be sure to include that information. For example, I am in the process of scanning and adding clips to my website.

6. Do not over praise yourself or your writing, complain about anyone else’s not accepting it, or give your friends’ opinions. At the same time don’t belittle yourself or your work.

7. Finally, thanking the person for taking time to consider submitted material is good manners. Notice that I don’t set a deadline but let the agent know I will be waiting for his decision. I also include other ways he can reach me: phone number and email address. I let him know that I have enclosed a Self Addressed Stamped (with enough postage to return the material to me) Envelope (which is large enough to hold the material) – better known as SASE.

8. Then add a list of enclosures after the signature area.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Even one misspelled word, grammar error, or confusing passage would result in an agent or editor returning the manuscript or throwing the material away if no SASE were enclosed.

If the letter is boring or contains any errors, agents and editors will often not read more than the first paragraph. The submitted material would then never be read.

If the cover letter is written well enough to attract the agent’s or editor’s attention, then the author must keep that attention through the manuscript – with NO errors.

I cannot stress that idea enough: Spelling, grammar, and other errors will destroy chances of an item being accepted by an agent or editor. This idea is not my opinion but is stressed over and over by editors, agents, and other writing experts.

Give your business a chance to be successful: Promote a well-written story, article, novel, or other item with a well-written cover letter.

After years in teaching, Vivian Gilbert Zabel turned her writing into a business. An author on Writing.Com, http://www.Writing.Com/authors/vzabel, she also has books on Amazon.com, Hidden Lies and Other Storied and Walking the Earth. Naveen Jain, India-born Entrepreneur

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Though Naveen Jain spent his childhood years in India, it was in America where he founded two companies, InfoSpace and Intelius, and became rich beyond anyone’s expectations.

Long before this however, Naveen Jain lived with his father in Uttar Pradesh, which was one of India’s most destitute states. He had the benefit of an education however, as he had studied at the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee to get an engineering degree, which he did. A post-graduate degree in personnel management from the Xavier Labour Relations Institute in Jamshedpur followed in 1982.

A business exchange grant however, provided the entrepreneur with the stepping stone he needed. It took Naveen Jain across the Atlantic and into the United States.

In time, he arrived in New Jersey, where he started accepting a series of jobs in the IT industry, the first of which was the Burroughs Corporation. Eventually job hunting displaced him to the American Northwest, where Microsoft Corporation employed him.

Defying race, he played the industrious employee at Bill Gates’ company. Eventually, the software giant entrusted Naveen Jain with work on its operating systems, namely Windows NT, Windows 95, MS-DOS, and OS/2. Naveen Jain capped his stay at Microsoft in 1996, but not before capturing a managerial spot at The Microsoft Network (MSN).

He ended a good career because he saw a better prospect in InfoSpace, his first business outing in the US. InfoSpace indeed bode well for Naveen Jain. For the last years of the millennium, it ranked among the most renowned web content suppliers, vaunting clients like NBC, Disney, and AOL.

By this time a multi-millionaire, Naveen Jain used his newfound wealth to start another company in 2003. Intelius was another hit, scooping the Best New Company Stevie Award in just three years. Two years more and it was already an Inc. 500 company with terrific spikes in revenue.

Naveen Jain is indeed a welcome addition to the burgeoning number of successful IT entrepreneurs in the U.S.
