Prospecting – The Law of the Hierarchy of Habits

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

We are all suject to the law of the Hierarchy of Habits.

Just like gravity, you are under the control of the Law of the Hierarchy of Habits whether you like it or not. But unlike gravity, many of us don’t realize how important this law is to our performance in virtually every skill performed.

The Law of the Hierarchy of Habits says that, “Under pressure, you will do what you are most prepared to do.”

Now this makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Look at someone who has never tried to play tennis. When they get out on the tennis court they look like a real klutz. The same thing with bowling or golf or really any other skill.

Now most of you will probably say that this is common knowledge and it is easily overcome. First, you have to be taught the right way to hold the racket, or club or release the ball. Then you have to practice so you can do it better and better. That makes sense and is how most of us gain at least some proficiency in these sports. Also, how many teams do you know that perform well without practicing together? So the key factor here seems to be learning a skill and then practicing it.

Today we also refer to this as muscle memory. It is also the reason pilots train in handling emergencies over and over. So if one should occur, they are prepared to handle it correctly. Most of us have trained our muscles to drive a car so we handle nearly every situation “automatically.”

This is where the law comes in. Most many situations you face put you under pressure to some degree. As a result, your performance will reflect the degree with which you are prepared to perform to a standard. If you have practiced and “trained” your muscles to act the way you want, then your performance will reflect that development. If however, you have not prepared yourself, then your performance will reflect that lack of preparation and you will be disappointed.

My golf game is terrible. Every time I play, I say that I will never play golf again. And I have seen Jack Nicholas and Arnold Palmer and the other greats play lots of golf. I know how to play scratch golf, so why don’t I play scratch golf?

The reason is simple; I don’t prepare myself to play like they do. When the Law of the Hierarchy of Habits hits Arnold Palmer he plays as he has prepared himself to play, the same thing holds true when Bill Truax plays. I don’t deserve to score as well as Arnold Palmer.

Now when you decide to make cold calls, how can you expect to perform? The way that you have prepared, of course. The same thing holds true with your sales presentations and objection handling techniques, every aspect of your sales conduct. One of the things that has always surprised me is that a sales professional will practice his or her golf game, bowling, tennis, or soft ball, but will not practice their prospecting or presentations skills. Yet their prospecting and presentation skills are critical to their success and happiness. And also gives them the opportunities to play those games!

When I go in the field to spend time prospecting with a sales person, I do all of the prospecting calls myself. The sales person is there to watch and answer technical questions because I don’t know their products. Before we go out on the calls, I have to learn the wording for the prospecting call, I call it a BLITZ CALL®. So I write it out, practice saying it aloud, and ask the sales person if it makes sense. When it does, I am ready.

There is always some pressure on you when you are cold calling. If you are practiced and ready you will do well, if not, you will do less than well. The reason is simple. We are all subject to the Law of the Hierarchy of Habits.

Build Deep Rapport by Delayed Matching

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

In general your going to allow a delay between your movement and theirs. A terrific delay time is 3 seconds.
Think about it. Someone reaches up to their mouth and you just reach up to your mouth about 3 seconds later. Then they put their hand back behind their head a little bit, and you put your hand behind your head a little bit later.

I’m just going along with him as he moves. As he moves I move – only later. And I’m not following him exactly, but I’m following him every time. So there is consistency to what I’m doing.

Here’s the key – You can allow up to a half a minute delay but then start to zero it out. Meaning that as that person moves you’re going to move closer and closer to when they move until pretty soon – he makes a move and you move right along with him. He makes another move and you move right along with him. But it ’s okay to allow a lengthy delay to begin with.

Now if you’re not going to have a long interaction with a person, you don’t want a lengthy delay. You don’t have time. So part of this will be judged by the context that you’re in. If you only have a short interaction with them, you better get on it! Don’t allow much of a delay because you aren’t going to be there long enough to be able to to gain the rapport that you want.

So delay but close the gap!

To practice this: find someone to practice on/with and set your intention to pace their movements – use mirroring and as the persuader allow a lag, the lag can be anywhere up to 30 seconds. You can start with a 3 second lag and then zero it out over the next minute. So if the person I am pacing is sitting in a certain way and rocking a bit, I would wait 3 seconds and then I would rock and then wait a little less and rock with them again, and then pretty soon as he rocks I’m going to rock.

I want you to be seeing with your peripheral vision. Take into account the whole person. See with your peripheral vision, because that’s where the most amount of information will come from. Oh and do all this while enjoying your conversation with them!

A lag time – then zero out the lag; use your peripheral vision; and enjoy talking with them.

Your unconscious mind is to really get this! You can simultaneously take a fly on the wall position to watch it being done, to evaluate is it being done right and how can you do it better. You will see how to fine tune it for the next time you do it. The goal is to observe it in action in a way that it’s being done so you can pick up how it’s working and then be more effective with it yourself.

You can do this in 3 minute chunks and then get feedback from the meta fly on the wall position and then do it again incorporating the learning from the meta position.

Mirroring and Matching

Mirroring is: If I stand and look in a mirror, that person I’m looking at is going to be doing what I’m doing. Mirroring is simply – if I move my right hand, you’re going to move your… left hand. If I scratch with my left arm, you scratch with your right arm.

Matching is: If I raise my left hand, you raise your left hand. You match the movements with your same hand.
In general you want to mirror – not match. Mirroring will build deeper and stronger rapport.

Distinction between mirroring and matching

I make a distinction here because I hear it all the time from people saying, “I was mirroring and matching.” They may have misunderstood their training and thus they are confused when they get results and when they don’t get results.
So my intention is to make sure there is no confusion here. so that if you have always referred to it this way, I want you to know what these things are so you can start to take control of your own behavior and you can get the results that you’re really looking to get.
You will find yourself, with enough time practicing and enough experience, that you become aware of yourself automatically mirroring another person.
Obviously this can be a distraction for you, but what I suggest you do is become impressed!
So in other words if you find yourself pacing someone like that – you go, “Cool!” I’m doing really well. That is a command and affirmation to your unconscious mind. You tell your unconscious “Yes! We’re doing good on this one. I like this.”
And your unconscious goes “Woo Hoo! I’m doing a good job!” And it does even more for you.
Physical mirroring is lower on the scale of techniques that work. it’s necessary, you’ve got to understand it, you’ve got to be able to do it, but it’s actually lower in effectiveness. A higher technique is the energy that’s generated from your thoughts. You can set the physical behavior aside and just pace with words and energy.

Build Sales With Five Great Mood Enhancers

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Before she married dear old Dad, my Mom sang with some of the Big Bands.

In that era, the tune, “In The Mood” was a smash hit.

One thing is for sure. Customers have to be in the right mood in order to buy, and certainly to buy the amount and type of product or service we wish to sell.

But we can’t just leave customers to their own devices, hoping they’ll feel just right when we need to make a sale. We have to do what we can to manage their predisposition to buy, to enhance their moods.

Here are five things you can do to elevate people’s moods, on the spot:

(1) Make them smile.

The easiest way to do this is to smile at them, even if you’re speaking to them over the phone. Jokes can work, anecdotes, too. Beware of self-deprecating humor, however. You don’t want them to think you’re a goof.

(2) Compliment them.

Anything is grist for a complement. If their receptionist seems professional and well trained, say so. Praise the beautiful art or inspirational quotes they’ve placed on the walls.

(3) Listen to them, offering supportive nonverbal feedback as you do.

It’s very rare to enjoy the rapt attention of anyone, these days. So, when you’re clearly hanging on their every word, you’re silently screaming, “You’re important!”

It’s a lovely feeling.

(4) Overlook poor appearances, social gaffes and miscues.

I was 21, an account executive in a Beverly Hills car leasing agency, when a 19 year old and his 18 year old girlfriend came in and asked me how much they would have to pay per month for a Ferrari.

Because they were younger, shabbily dressed, and sounded so cavalier, I gave them an abrupt reply, tossing a credit application their way, and instructing them to hand in the paperwork before leaving.

Within 30 minutes of their departure, my credit manager, Tony, asked me, “Where are they? Where did they go?”

I told him, “No problem, they left.”

“Oh, my gosh,” he said. “That kid is worth millions. He has a trust fund that is huge. Call him, and lease him anything he wants!”

I blew it because I trusted my judgment about appearances, and killed their buying mood.

(5) Tell yourself, “I’m going to enjoy this”

One of the surest ways to elevate another’s mood is by starting with yours.

Do these five things and you and your customers will always be in the mood to do business.

Security and Internet Browsers – Firefox vs Internet Explorer

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Introduction

The Internet is becoming a more and more dangerous place to be, due in no small part to the inherent security risks posed by viruses and spyware. Additionally, applications that access the Internet as part of their normal operations may have errors in their code that allows hackers to launch attacks against the computer on which those applications are running. The safety and integrity of digital assets is further compromised by the fast-growing threat of cybercrooks who devise and implement large-scale hoaxes such as phishing and ID theft.

In the light of all this, it’s clear that users need a reliable and secure web browser between them and the Internet, which will be free of these problems and won’t let harmful content invade the computer.

The web browser industry continues to be dominated by the Windows-bundled Internet Explorer, with an 85% market share, but in recent years a new breed of free, more functional and resilient browsers has appeared – the most popular being Mozilla/Firefox and Opera. All have received serious security upgrades to help protect against recent scares and safeguard users online.

Internet Explorer is at version 6.0, essentially the same product that was included with Windows XP in 2001. Eighteen months ago, the release of Windows XP Service Pack 2 substantially increased IE safety; however, it did not eliminate many of the loopholes exploited by hostile program code. At present, Firefox is at version 1.5, but its very different development history (see next section) means that it can be considered at a similar level of maturity as Internet Explorer.

Currently, Microsoft is preparing its next-generation browser, Internet Explorer 7.0, which it plans to introduce sometime during the first half of 2006. The company has stated that it intends to make the browser stronger and more secure to help protect its users against the many problems that have dogged the software over the years.

We, along with Internet users everywhere, await the final results with interest. In the meantime, we decided to undertake our own security evaluation of both IE 7 (beta) and its closest rival, Firefox 1.5.

History and overview

Internet Explorer is a proprietary graphical web browser developed by Microsoft. In 1995, the company licensed the commercial version of Internet Explorer 3.0 from Spyglass Mosaic and integrated the program into its Windows 95 OSR1 edition. Later, it included IE4 as the default browser in Windows 98 – a move which continues to raise many antitrust questions.

Firefox is an open-source browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation; anyone who is proficient enough can collaborate in writing and improving its program code. Mozilla is known for its stringent approach to security, promising a bounty of several thousand dollars for any major vulnerability found in the product.

Security incidents and threat response

While no browser is perfect, major security lapses happened rather more frequently with IE than with Firefox. To be fair, Firefox has less than a 10% market share and is thus a rather less enticing target than IE; that’s probably also why security researchers focus much of their attention on the vulnerabilities of Microsoft’s browser, not Firefox’s. Some people have argued that if the market shares were reversed, bugs in Firefox would start appearing on a more frequent basis, as has recently been the case with Internet Explorer.

The open-source architecture of Firefox contributes to the overall safety of the browser; a community of skilled programmers can spot problems more quickly and correct them before a new release is available for general use. It’s been said that threat response time for Firefox averages one week, while it may take months for Microsoft engineers to fix critical bugs reported by security analysts – an unacceptable situation for users who remain unnecessarily vulnerable to exploits (hacker attacks) during that time.

From the threat response standpoint, Firefox is clearly the winner.

Security features

  • Phishing safeguard
  • New protection against financial fraud and identity theft has been incorporated into the new IE. A so-called “phishing filter” now appears on the Internet Options menu, which is intended to protect users against unknowingly disclosing private information to unauthorized third parties. Here’s how it works:

If a user visits a spoofed site which looks exactly like a genuine one – usually as a result of clicking on a link in a fraudulent email – the browser senses a phishing attempt and compares the site against a list of known phishing sites. If the filter finds the site is a phishing culprit, it blocks access to the site and informs the user of the danger of leaving his/her personal details on sites like this. The database of known phishing sites is updated regularly, and users have an option to report a suspected phishing instant to Microsoft for evaluation.

We’re pleased to report that, even in beta, the filter appears to work quite well, correctly identifying half of the test sites we visited as phishing sites.

In Firefox, phishing protection is delivered through third-party extensions such as Google Safe Browsing (currently in beta for US-based users only (see http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/index.html); this can be plugged into the browser’s extension menu.

As additional protection against accidental phishing, the authors of IE have stated that they plan to make their product display the URL of every visited site. With IE 6, this capability was not available and many pop-ups appeared without displaying an address in the previously non-existent address bar. Unfortunately, in neither browser were we were able to achieve more than a fifty percent URL display ratio; we trust that this percentage will increase as the release of IE 7 approaches and Mozilla continues to work on improving its functionality in this area.

  • Restriction of executable Web content
  • In the current version of IE, suspect websites have been free to install almost any software they want on visitors’ machines. While XP SP2 has dramatically reduced this possibility, many unnecessary add-ons and toolbars can still be easily installed by inexperienced users. IE 7 should provide more protection for nave users, as it will offer to run in protected mode, thus restricting access to the host OS files and settings and making these critical elements of the computer inaccessible to malware.

The default setting for Firefox 1.5 is to have installation of extensions and add-ons disabled; the user must manually change settings in order to enable adding extensions to the browser.

There will always be a tradeoff between security and functionality, but security experts always maintained that letting websites unrestrictedly launch executable code within the browser creates unlimited potential for exploitation. IE 7 will offer much greater flexibility in configuring which external code will be permitted to run within the browser and what impact it would have on the OS.

    ActiveX restrictions

Aside from some graphics enhancement of web pages, in most cases ActiveX is more damaging than beneficial. Many sites that serve up spyware and pop-up ads use ActiveX scripting technology, and ActiveX scripting in the Windows environment can be allowed to run unrestrictedly with administrator (root) privileges. Firefox 1.5 does not support Microsoft’s proprietary ActiveX technology and so the Firefox browser is more resilient against spyware infection.

In IE6, even with SP2, ActiveX is allowed to run by default, which automatically renders IE users less protected against the threat of spyware. In the upcoming IE 7, it is not yet known whether Microsoft will continue this approach, but early indications point to this being the case. This would be unfortunate, since the current approach is a clear security vulnerability.

Of course, IE users can manually disable ActiveX scripting on a particular website and let ActiveX be started automatically on all other sites visited. Or, vice versa, they can disable ActiveX scripting on most of the sites visited and permit it to run on a particular site. All this can be configured under the Security tab in IE’s Options menu. However, it is hardly realistic to expect Internet novices, who need the most protection, to do this.

Java, JavaScript and Visual Basic components

Java and JavaScript can be enabled and disabled by both browsers. Firefox allows users to specify permissions for particular actions performed by these scripts. IE 6 allows users to create a group of trusted sites to which global limitations on these scripts will not apply. In IE 7, more flexibility will be added that will lead users toward a more customized display of web pages belonging to a particular site; it appears Firefox also plans to introduce more flexible parameters.

  • Internal download manager
  • IE 7’s download manager will be revamped, and feature an option to pause and resume downloads – a feature not available with the current version. Specific actions will be able to be defined following the completion of a download, and users can check the newly-downloaded file with their anti-virus before running it. This approach is already in place with Firefox, so Microsoft appears to be playing catch-up here.

  • Encryption of data on protected sites
  • When you submit sensitive information, such as transaction details to a bank or financial institution, it travels in an encrypted form through a secure HTTP (SHTTP) connection. The information is encrypted by your browser and decrypted at the receiving end. The new version of IE will use stronger encryption algorithms to reliably transfer your data without the risk of being intercepted and deciphered by someone in transit. A padlock icon indicating that a user is on a secure site will be placed in a more obvious place than currently, and more detailed information will be provided to help visitors check the authenticity of such sites.

Firefox currently has a better-organized display of security certificates for its users, so clearly Microsoft has a room for improvement.

  • Updating
  • Both browsers are updated automatically when new code is ready. Firefox has this update mechanism already in place, and for IE 7, it is expected that updates will be provided through Windows update technology.

    Privacy enhancements

IE 7 will have the ability for users to flexibly set what private data will be saved and can be applied to different sites; users will be able to easily remove browsing history and other private details such as passwords, cookies, details submitted on web forms, download history, and temporary files. In IE 6, these files were stored all over the place and users have complained that there is no clear way to delete this information. Firefox 1.5 already provides this capability.

    Conclusion

IE 7 promises a lot of interesting security and privacy enhancements that will help users stay more secure. With the final release users will receive a good, solid browser that, if Microsoft promises are fulfilled, will help it to compete well on the security front. As we have seen, Firefox 1.5 is already a role model, and it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for this talented challenger.

    Five Secrets To Weight Loss

    Monday, September 8th, 2008

Weight loss – such a “big” topic! Every month another book is out by another expert on weight loss. Everyone wants to know the secret to losing weight.

I certainly don’t have THE secret, but I do have some secrets, and I want to share them with you in the hope you find them helpful.

Weight used to be a major issue for me. Losing weight was never out of my thoughts, and I can’t tell you how many different diets, pills and programs I tried until I discovered some “secrets” that have worked for me for many years now.

So here they are. I hope they work as well for you as they have for me.

    1. Change your focus from losing weight to achieving great health.

I grew up as a sickly child and I was a sickly young adult. I hated being sick and never having energy to do all the things I wanted to do. So I decided to learn about what creates great health.

First I read tons of books on nutrition and became convinced that I needed to switch to organic foods. That was quite a challenge in 1961! There was one coop health food store that I had to follow around Los Angeles because it kept moving locations. But it was worth it! My rule of thumb now is – if they didn’t eat it 100 years ago, then I won’t eat it now. This cuts out most packaged and processed foods and leaves natural, organic food.

    2. Learn to read your body signals regarding what feels good to your body and what feels bad.

I no longer read about all the different diets because I’ve learned to tune into MY body so that I know exactly what my body needs for great health. Since my body needs different things than your body, no single food plan will work for everyone. Your job is to learn to tune into what gives you energy and what robs you of energy, and what foods create calmness and which ones create agitation. Once I learned what my body needs for great health, I lost weight and kept it off easily.

    3. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy and that you can do at least 5 times a week.

I discovered that I love to walk in nature, so I take a fast half-hour walk every day. However, this can be a problem if you have physical limitations or chronic illness. Losing weight with chronic illness or physical limitations is not impossible, but it can be a much bigger challenge.

    4. Learn to discern which part of you determines what and when you eat, as well as how much you eat.

We all have a wounded part of ourselves that uses various addictions as ways to deal with feelings of loneliness, aloneness, helplessness, anxiety, depression, fear and anger. Some people may use alcohol, drugs, spending, TV, gambling, sex, and so on to avoid their pain, while other use food. While food may work to pacify painful feelings for the moment, in the long run all addictions backfire and create the very pain you are trying to avoid. Yet our wounded self keeps choosing addictive behavior as a way of managing pain. As long as the wounded part of you is making your food choices, you may continue to have a weight problem.

The part of us that is capable of managing painful feelings in healthy ways and making healthy choices is the loving Adult. The loving Adult is the part of us that has a deep desire to learn about and take loving action in our own behalf. Developing a loving Adult is a major aspect in creating health and wellbeing, as well as in losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight.

    5. Learn to connect with a spiritual source of wisdom, strength, love and guidance.

The loving Adult is that part of us that is connected with a spiritual source of guidance rather than being governed by the mind. The mind, bring programmed from childhood, is the home of the wounded self. You are being a loving Adult at those moments when you choose to be guided by a source of wisdom beyond your mind. This source will always guide you toward your highest good. You just need to learn to open and listen.

It is very likely that you will not only lose weight, but will also move into more physical and emotional health and wellbeing if you embrace these “secrets” into your life. We offer you a free course (see the resource box) to help you with developing your loving Adult. Once you have developed a powerful loving inner Adult, you will be able to lose weight. If you really want to lose weight, there is a way!

Buy a new home with easy loans, 162543 euro in less than a week

    Sunday, September 7th, 2008

And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 7 percent. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 8 percent offered by competitors will change.

Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 11 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ See which lenders are charging fees 9 percent and for how much. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 10 percent. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 4 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Different lenders charge different fees.

While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 11 percent. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 6 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 7 percentage. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

The Many Different Types of Strength

    Thursday, September 4th, 2008

There are many different types of strength… and they all need to be taken into consideration when forming an effective physical training program.

    What makes someone strong?

Well, that is not an easy question to answer… because it depends on which of the many different types of strength you are talking about.

Someone can exhibit great competence in one aspect of strength while being completely lacking in another.

To understand this better, let’s talk about three of the most important types of strength: Maximal Strength, Explosive Strength and Strength Endurance…

Maximal Strength is the amount of force that can be generated from one all out effort… regardless of time or bodyweight.

Maximal strength can be displayed through three types of muscle actions…

Concentric Strength occurs when the muscle shortens as it overcomes resistance, like when lifting a weight.

Eccentric Strength occurs when the muscle lengthens as it yields to or attempts to overcome a resistance, like when controlling a weight on the way down.

Static Strength occurs when the muscle contracts against an immovable resistance, or contracts to prevent unwanted movement.

Explosive Strength is strength per unit of time, and is also known as Speed Strength.

There are different types of explosive strength…

Starting Strength is the ability to recruit as many muscle fibers as possible instantaneously at the start of the movement… It is the type of strength necessary to quickly accelerate a load that is at rest.

Acceleration Strength is how long you can keep the maximum number of muscle fibers recruited after Starting Strength. Once the initial movement begins, the rate of force development is the acceleration… It is what will get the load moving very quickly.

Strength Endurance is the ability to be as strong as possible, as long as possible.

Strength endurance is characterized by being able to perform a movement repeatedly for an extended period of time without being overcome by fatigue or sacrificing form.

Now let’s add a couple more types of strength…

Relative Strength is the amount of force that can be generated from one all out effort… relative to bodyweight.

For example… if two people have the ability to lift the same object, but one person is small and lighter in size, they exhibit more relative strength.

Relative strength comes into play when you are measuring your strength abilities against others, competing in a sport that has weight classes or competing in a sport where you have to overcome your own bodyweight to perform a task.

Absolute Limit Strength is the amount of force that can be generated from one all out effort… with the use of drugs and/or supplements.

I personally am the least interested with this type of strength because I am only interested in strength improvements that come from proper, effective physical training… and not through biological manipulation.

As you can see… there are a lot of types of strength to take into account when planning a strength training program.

    My suggestion…

Do not concentrate on the training of one particular type of strength at the expense of all others unless you have a very specific reason to do so.

For most of us, we do not know which type of strength will be called into question as we go through our lives… so train them all.

Therefore, vary physical training methods, stresses and intensities while training maximal strength, explosive strength and strength endurance to bring about the greatest performance improvements for sport, work and life.

In this way, you will not only be strong… but strong for any occasion.

    Cheap Accommodation in Rome

    Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Most people don’t know the geography of Rome, where the best monuments are placed, and where to find a cheap accommodation for their Roman holidays. Here’s out Rome travel information, advice, Vatican hotels, reviews, maps, Rome Tours and itineraries among masterpieces and architectural jewels.

Planning an Itinerary to Rome can be difficult if you are unsure of what to visit: sometimes it’s better to take a Rome Tour.
    Must see places in Rome:

    Santa Maria degli Angeli
Ancient Roman thermal Baths restored by Michelangelo to become one of the most imposing Roman Basilicas

    Piazza del Campidoglio
Michelangelo transformed this place into a renaissance drawing-room, amiong perspective wings and architectonic foundations of studied beauty.

    San Clemente
The story of Rome in a church. Many levels on top of each other which speak of various events and cultures, persons and cults, men and divinities. An absolute must for all visits to Rome.

    20-20 Vision with HDTV

    Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The world is changing. In the past, people watched black and white images of the moon landing. As TVs took off, people were generally content with whatever image was beamed into their world.Picture quality has evolved over the ages for the better. And now, in line with the introduction of other technologies, HDTV has raised our expectations and standards. Gone are the days when you could be happy with washed-out colors and a low resolution. Now you want a clearer picture and sharper colors, and you want it all for an affordable price.

HDTV is the TV to aspire for.Start thinking about making the switch, or convincing one of your friends to do so, so that your can enjoy. HDTV gives you an even sharper picture. Picture it this way, watching a standard TV is like viewing the world through a dirty windowpane. With HDTV, there is no window. The images on the television screen are as close to lifelike as you can get, that is, without actually getting off the couch and watching real-life images. An HDTV can accomplish this feat with its high resolution; a million pixels, often more, combine to create a brilliant picture that will wow any viewer.

But whats the cost? Fortunately, prices are falling every year. Five years ago, most people were priced out of the HDTV market.

However, you need to be aware of a few facts. A new HDTV is the whole equation.Nop, you will need a few more accessories like a blue ray dvd player or satellite decoder. This sends the HD channels to your television; without one, you can only watch standard programming. Second, you will need high-def channels. Your cable or satellite provider offers a line-up of HD channels, though the number of available HD channels is nowhere close the number of available standard channels. Third, you will need an HD show or movie. Not all shows broadcast on an HD station are necessarily high-definition; news programs are often broadcast in standard-definition, as are most daytime programs. If you are watching a standard-def show, you may see a black bar on either side of the screen. Also, since you are watching a standard-def show on a high-def screen, the picture will not be nearly as clear or as sharp as with an HD program. Only when you have all three elements – an HD box, channel and show – can you experience television like never before.

How to Measure Your Treadmill Belt for Replacement

    Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

To measure your treadmill belt for replacement do the following:

If your treadmill is not a major brand and it needs a new belt you may have to special order a belt. Following are instruction for making sure you get a good measurement.

Next to the motor the treadmill belt is the most important part of the treadmill. If it becomes frayed or starts to turn up on the sides then it is time to replace the belt.

The treadmill belt will also split at the seam. You should check the belt on a regular basis to ensure it is safe. If the belt wears thin it can ruin the deck, then you have the double expense of replacing the belt and deck.

There are many companies that sell replacement treadmill belts, and some of them will take special orders. But you must have the correct measurement so your belt will fit. Following is the directions to measure your belt.

    1. Place a mark on the edge of the belt, then using a string or tape measure go completely around the belt to get the circumference. This needs to be as close as you can get it.

    2. Measure the width of the belt.

    Example 102″ X 15″

If your belt is so bad that you know it has to be replaced then cut it off and measure the entire length and width of the belt. If it is a very old belt please allow for stretching.

You can also set the rear roller about halfway of the adjusting screws then measure around the front and rear rollers for an accurate measurement. If you can not find a company that offers special order belts let me know.
